The Trustees ensure the Charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit and also act in the Charity’s best interests - they have a legal duty to act with reasonable care and skill. The five Trustees listed below all sit on the Board and make decisions on all applications for Grant Funding.
Sam Jones - Chairman
"My name is Sam Jones I've spent a majority of my working life in senior management positions working in the care sector.
As a family I've always lived with dogs, they have always been a huge part of my life and my family‘s life. Owning a dog is a gift they give love and attention at the most important times in our lives with no judgement only wanting a good walk, a good fuss and something to eat, anything that we can do to make their lives better is something that benefits everybody. The work that we want to do with Newfoundlands is something which is in desperate need nationally, any help and contribution that we can provide is one step forward in making sure these beautiful animals are cared for."
Stella Baxter - Secretary
"My love of dogs began as a child in 1966 with a English Setter called Silver, as a teenager became a kennel maid in a Top Pyrenean Mountain Dog Kennel (Lisblanc). A chance meeting with Newfoundlands began in 1998 and we have been owned by this multipurpose beautiful breed ever since.
I bring to the Charity my passionate love of dogs and my business skills (Owner manager for 17 years) with a clear understanding of processes and procedures in which to serve the breed and the public to prevent hardship to both."
John Evans
"My name is John Evans, I am a retired Managing Director/Owner of a white goods company.
I have owned dogs since early childhood as a boy with German Shepherds and later in life Old English Sheepdogs. In 1982 I had my first Newfoundland 'Crawford' and so the slippery road began. I have owned, showed, judged, and bred two litters over the past 40 years.
I am passionate and totally committed to this wonderful gentle breed. Their health, wellbeing and future is of the utmost importance to me."
Tracey Jasper
"My name is Tracey Jasper and I fell in love with Newfoundlands in 1997 and after much research and seeking lots of advice gained a black furry bundle in 2000, I have had the pleasure of being owned by nine Newfoundlands and become emotionally attached to more than I can count.
To ensure these beautiful dogs have the best of everything regardless of circumstance is something we will work hard to achieve as a group. Putting resources where they can do the most good for this fabulous breed.
I have spent much of my working life ensuring optimum and equal care to all humans young and old and in between. I am looking forward to replicating that with Newfies."
Rose Evans
"Dogs have been in my life from a very early age ranging from Spaniels, Chows, Labradors and finally in 1982 Newfoundlands. This majestic gentle loving breed came into my life and together with my husband we have had a total of six Newfoundlands over the years and bred two litters.
My passion is the health and well-being of this beloved breed making sure that they are being looked after and cared for in the manner they deserve."
